The National Youth Screening Assistance Project (NYSAP) at University of Massachusetts Medical School is funded by the MacArthur Foundation to provide technical assistance to juvenile justice programs that are implementing mental health screening. When a state is considering implementation of the MAYSI-2 statewide in some part of their juvenile justice system, a state administrator may request assistance from NYSAP for the training of juvenile justice personnel who will be administering the MAYSI-2. NYSAP’s funding allows for this to be done with a shared-cost arrangement that is very inexpensive for the state receiving training. NYSAP can assist single facilities that wish to have their employees trained in the administration and use of the MAYSI-2. For this training, NYSAP connects juvenile justice administrators with regional, NYSAP-affiliated professionals, whom NYSAP has trained to provide MAYSI-2 training. Unfortunately, NYSAP cannot share financial costs with single facilities, but NYSAP will help the facilities contact a MAYSI-2 trainer, who require a fee, and give them information about the training process .

We have developed a MAYSI-2 Training Video. In this video, the author of the MAYSI-2, Thomas Grisso, Ph.D., speaks over automated Power Points and guides users through the MAYSI-2 training.
This software is free to all registered MAYSI-2 users. If your site has purchased the 2006 MAYSI-2 manual and has submitted the MAYSI-2 form to NYSAP, then you are qualified to receive the free training video.
